Sensei Robert Armstrong
is a 4 Dan Black Belt in Mu Te Jinen Ryu and began his
martial arts career almost 3 decades ago in Judo at age 8. Mr
Armstrong has taught martial arts full time
in primary and secondary schools and has
developed his own Martial Arts programs
for Kids and Teens called called the Samurai School and
Shinobi Teens which includes his own philosophies and
trainings in Mu Te Ryu, To-Shin do, Bok-Fu, Ninjutsu, Jujutsu, Judo, Taekwondo, Boxing,
Kick Boxing, and various forms of Karate and Kung Fu,
and Geoff 'Tank' Todd's Military
Close Quarter Battle system.
Sensei Ryan Lloyd is a 2 Dan Black Belt in Mu Te Jinen Ryu and has over 15 years martial arts experience beginning his career in Ninjutsu, Judo, Tai Chi, Kung Fu and other mixed martial arts styles.
Recently adopting the name of Bristol Self Defence Academy the dojo offers a range of small and friendly classes of all abilities for students over the age of 14 years. The Mu Te Ryu syllabus provides a wide variety of tradtional and modern training teaching skills of unarmed and armed self defence.
Mu Te Jinen Ryu is more than just a self defence system and therefore we can also provide workshops in non violent conflict management, physical self defence, breathing, meditation and stress management techniques. For the elderly or those with mobility problems we can even tailor the normal Mu Te Ryu training to be more Tai Chi in nature thus providing you with a range of exercises that could improve your health as well as increase and maintain joint flexibility and strength, and help restore range of motion.
Most importantly Mu Te Shin Dojo's is about enjoying your training and enjoying your life. If training doesn't enhance your life, then why train? Your objective is to defend yourself - to survive; it is not to injure your attacker. Just because you have the ability to hurt someone does not give you the right too.
